STEMspot is a thoughtfully designed indoor hands-on science mini-museum and cozy cafe for children ages 0–7 and their favorite grown-ups. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and people-centered Operations Manager to support day-to-day operations and help ensure a warm, high-quality experience for every family who walks through our doors.

This role reports directly to the owner and is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working with families, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Team Coordination

• Create and manage weekly staff schedules

• Ensure proper coverage for open play, events, and peak times

• Communicate schedule updates and handle call-outs or changes

Inventory & Supplies Management

• Track and maintain inventory (café items, cleaning supplies, paper goods, etc.)

• Place and manage orders with vendors

• Pick up inventory locally as needed

• Maintain organized storage and back-of-house systems

Customer Experience

• Handle customer service questions, concerns, and special requests with professionalism and care

• Support a welcoming, calm, and high-quality environment for families

• Ensure consistent service standards across all interactions & report larger issues to owner

Events & Programming

• Coordinate logistics for birthday parties, private events, and special programming

• Communicate with clients leading up to events

• Oversee event execution to ensure a seamless, stress-free experience

Operations & Organization

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational flow throughout the space

• Implement and refine systems to improve efficiency

• Identify areas for improvement and take initiative to problem-solve

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service required

• Background in hospitality/food service, education (teaching/preschool), or family-focused nonprofits strongly preferred

• Reliable transportation/vehicle required 

Schedule & Availability

• Part-time position (looking to fill position ASAP)

• Weekday Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM (can pick other days if needed)

  • Plus either Saturday OR Sunday (~6 hours for parties/events/open play)

• Flexibility: Some responsibilities (scheduling, event planning, customer communication via email/phone) may be completed remotely during slower weeks–this will be determined weekly with the owner
