What is Open Play?
Open Play sessions offer over a range of hands-on STEM exhibits and rotating learning stations, a comfortable café seating area with river views, and classroom “pop-up” activities like science experiments, engineering challenges, crafts/storytime, and more! Our café is open and offers a range of barista-crafted beverages and healthy snacks to enjoy while the kiddos explore. We suggest booking your desired start time, and then you are welcome to stay until we close (you can leave and return as our passes are good for the day!)
Download Our Booking App
Within seconds, you’ll be able to reserve your spot in sessions and easily cancel if you can’t make it. Best of all, you can save your card and pay your tab right on the app when you leave so you don’t have to wait in line on your way out! This is by far the easiest way to interact with our booking system!

Admission Notes:
✨ Adults are always free.
✨ Infants under 6 months and children 9+ are free with a café purchase.
To keep play safe for little ones, older kids should avoid roughhousing, running, or climbing in the play area. If needed, we may ask them to enjoy the café side instead, where we’ll happily provide coloring supplies, games, or puzzles.
Please note…
STEMSpot is NOT a daycare or drop-off childcare facility. Caregivers must stay on-site at all times. Our staff is here to facilitate learning opportunities, maintain a clean and safe space, and ensure that all materials are used appropriately and policies are followed. While parents may work in the café or co-working space, they are responsible for diapering and feeding their children as needed.
Open Play Rules to Keep Things Awesome
Shoes are permitted in the café seating area, classroom, and bathrooms only. Socks must be worn (adults and children) in the play area.
Adults and children 9 and older are FREE. Babies under 6 months are FREE with a café purchase.
You may take your lattes, mochas, cold brew, etc. into the play are if the drinks REMAIN in your hand and the lid is on. If you want to set the drink down, we ask that you move to the café bar area or tables.
Adults must accompany little ones into the classroom for activities as our art supplies and science experiments may post safety hazards if children are unsupervised.
Our staff is here to keep exhibits tidy and for re-setting materials to optimize learning. While we are happy to lend a hand or help you introduce an exhbit to your child, we are not a daycare facility and you must remain on site and supervise your child during play. We have sofas in the play area if your child is younger and needs you more often (especially around choking hazards) and bar seating that gives you.a clear view of your child if they are older and able to play independently or with a friend.
We take cleanliness very seriously. If any toys end up in a little ones mouth—please place them in our Toy Bathtub buckets, and we will sanitize them before placing them out on the play floor.
Please do not run, climb, or throw exhibit materials. The open spaces between exhibits are designed to allow creative thought—children are free to mix and match materials, build, and create. However, if they are using exhibits in unsafe ways or ways that can harm the equipment (e.g., stuffing small items in the ball wall so the fan can no longer blow air), you will be asked to leave the play area. Adult caregivers are responsible for reading the posted exhibit guides and rules. Our play guides are available to ask questions as well.
